American Beer Classic

Miami is often pigeonholed as a dayglow party destination with an abundance of nightclubs and beach bars. Dont get us wrong: we know how to party. But Miami is also home to an  extraordinary number of progressive microbreweries eager to prove that this sunny metropolis is more than just kegs and frozen margaritas. Like the burgeoning arts scene in Wynwood, Miami’s craft beers are gaining international attention. These three can’t-miss brewers would even make Portland jealous.

The Abbey Brewing Company

One of the most beloved microbreweries in Miami Beach, the Abbey Brewing Company has been bringing craft creations to the city for more than ten years. With a slew of full-bodied brews that can now be found bottled and on tap at local bars and restaurants, Abbey is worth keeping an eye out for. Some of our favorite brews include the Immaculate IPA, with its amber color and hoppy flavor, and the Father Theodore’s Stout with its notes of rich chocolate.

Wynwood Brewing Company

Wynwood is greater Miami’s most progressive and booming cultural neighborhood, and its namesake brewery is just as dynamic. Wynwood Brewing Company is helping to fuel the district’s arts evolution with a clutch of top-notch beers. Their brews range from regular porters to pale blond ales and IPA’s. Their tap room features a new beer or special treatment release every week, and is the site of events like Food Truck Fridays and Ladies Nights, where women get $4 pints.

Concrete Beach Brewery

When Concrete Beach Brewery’s Social Hall opens later this year, Wynwood’s newest craft beer location will be poised to dominate Miami’s hops scene. Already, the graffitied outpost is drawing huge acclaim for its year round beers, including the Rica—a wheat IPA—and the Stiltsville, which has all the makings for a classic craft pilsner. As the official opening nears, beer lovers are looking forward to sampling the Florida-inspired brews around the nearly-finished spacious bar.
