Miami Beach Bass Museum of Art

The Bass Art Museum is one of the premier cultural institutions in the United States. Its art deco facade with regal palm trees lining the courtyard sets the stage for its rich collections and exhibitions. Renowned collectors and Miami Beach residents John and Johanna Bass founded the institution in 1963. Since its inception, the Bass Art Museum has more than doubled in size.

Located on Collins Avenue, just like the Blue Moon Hotel, the Bass Art Museum is a bit up island from South Beach closer to City Center. Just a short drive inland, the Miami Beach Golf Club and Bayshore Municipal Golf Course attract a number of travelers looking to hit the links. The ocean is also just a couple blocks from the museum, making it easy for visitors to add on some rest and relaxation to their day perusing exhibits.

Things to Check Out

As one of the leading Miami Beach tourist attractions, the Bass Art Museum has a number of works and collections well worth checking out when visiting. From ancient painted sarcophagi to sculptures to the landscaped courtyard, there's plenty of permanent work that will keep your day interesting.
While in Miami Beach, it's also well worth checking out what the Bass Art Museum has on tap for events. From art classes for toddlers to running lectures to adult art clubs, there's plenty to enjoy and get involved with at the museum, even if you're just in town for a few days.
